As part of the ClearCase integration with Cadence Virtuoso, the ClearCase design management capabilities are available to the designers from within the Virtuoso’s cellview editors (CVE) namely schematic, layout etc.
‘ClearCase’ menu is made available on the menu bar of the cellview editors. Designers can perform the design management operations using the ClearCase menu. Detailed messaging from design management operations is routed to the Command Interpreter Window (CIW).
Checking-in the designs
Check In operation will add the unmanaged design to the ClearCase source control. For managed design that is checked out, the operation will commit it to ClearCase repository thereby creating a new version of the design. The dialog enables the designer to specify advanced check-in options. A successful check-in operation will bring the editor to Read-Only mode.
Checking out the designs
The “Check Out” menu item presents a dialog which lets the designers specify checkout comments in addition to advanced checkout options. Upon a successful check-out, the design editor will enable all the design editing options.
The “Cancel Checkout” operation cancels a checkout and discards the changes made to the
design since it was last checked out.
Use the “Manage Hierarchy” menu item to launch the ClearCase Hierarchy Manager to work with the design’s hierarchy.
Use the “Label” menu item to apply or remove labels from the design. Label is applied or removed from the entire co-managed set, including the cellview directory (and also parents if requested).
Version Tree Browser
Use the ‘Version Browser’ menu item to invoke the ClearCase version tree browser on the design.
Use the ‘History Browser’ menu item to invoke the ClearCase history browser on the design.
Opening a Previous Version
‘Open Version’ menu item presents the designer with the ClearCase version selector dialog. Designers can select a version from the listed design-history and open it in a new editor instance.
Customizing Editor's Title and Banner
Users can customize cellview editor's title and banner with the ClearCase fields of their interest. These customizations will remain persistent as user preferences.
DM state (Title)
DM state along with the current version is displayed on editor's title. This field remains selected by default when the editor is invoked.
Config spec rule (Banner)
When selected, the config spec rule is displayed on editor's banner.
When selected, the view tag is displayed on editor's banner.
View host (Banner)
When selected, the view host name is displayed on editor's banner.
When selected, the replica information is displayed on editor's banner.
ClearCase Property Sheet
Use the ‘Properties’ menu item to invoke the ClearCase property sheet. The following ClearCase properties are available on the property sheet.
The design management state (checked in, checked out or checked out elsewhere) of the cell view.
Config spec rule
The rule that is applied to select the version of the cell view that is loaded into the workspace.
The version of the cell view that is loaded into the workspace. If the version is checked-out, this field also indicates whether the checkout is reserved or unreserved.
The user, group and other ClearCase permissions on the cell view.
The current view context.
The current view’s storage-path.
The master replica name.
The labels that have been applied to the version of the cell view loaded into the workspace.
The checkin or checkout comments associated with the current version.
Refreshing the DM information
The “Refresh” menu item displays the design's most recent DM state. This operation can be used to update the DM state of the design in CVE specially in scenarios where the DM state might have changed by DM operations performed on the design outside of the CVE.
